Apache Junction Horse Rescue has a few new projects/ The first is with Pinal
County Adult Probation Department. People that have to do community service
come out on a Saturday and work off their hours. Cleaning. repairs, and
learning about horse care. The project went over so well that the first groups
asked to stay on to serve all their time with AJHR. The second new project is
with Bashas groceries stores. that AJHR recieves a donation for the purchase
of groceries, and that runs until March of 09. AJHR food code is 25089 and
they have to give that number at the check out line just one time and than
AJHR gets the donation each time they shop.
AJHR third project for the year 09 is to set up an equine therapy center for
children with disablities. for that we need to find licensed therapist that

Center for Children
About Us: We change
futures, one child, one horse at a time. Horses, Hope & Healing teaches the
responsibilities of caring for a horse, riding it to a level of show
competition, being part of a team running a full barn. They gain self esteem
through learning to participate in a group setting with rules & boundaries that
save lives, both the horses & their own. Many of the horses are rescued and need
gentle attention & care to flourish. Our kids save these horses lives while
growing in their own!
We are located in the heart of
Sacramento, working with inner city & at risk youth. We not only offer a riding
program but also partner with a local church to help feed & cloth families in
need. We are working on a connection with several of the school teachers so we
can help bring grades up as needed.
Special Needs: We really need monthly sponsors & one time donors to help
with our hay bill! We could also use building & fencing materials, volunteer
contractors, a quad runner or small tractor, qualified mentors/tutors to help
with the youth.
We could always use bedding, grain & Stongid C...Our staff is 100% volunteer,
all gifts, donations & sponsorships go into supporting our youth!

About Us:
In 2009, we are adding our 5th LA area Boys & Girls Clubs so we will be working
with kids from Burbank, East LA, Watts-Willowbrook, West San Gabriel Valley
(Monterey Park) and now Pasadena. We have a total volunteer staff and Sarah
still pays Dusty's expenses so all money raised goes directly to put at-risk
kids on a horse.
Our mission statement: “We provide opportunities through a recess of
nature, inspiring children to define and live a dream” and we continue to help
at-risk kids open their minds to things outside their current world. Over
the last eight years, my passion has become watching their self-esteem and
self-confidence blossom by spending a few hours with a horse.
Why am I passionate about Dusty’s Riders? I guess it comes down to loving to
watch kids who have never seen a horse up close in personal go through the range
of emotions. Their huge eyes when they see how big Dusty really is. The
incredulous looks of question when I hand them a carrot and tell them to feed
Dust. They don’t say it out loud, but I hear “are you crazy??” all the same.
Once they pet him, it’s hard to get them away from them.
I love when the kids return and the ones that had to be coaxed into hand feeding
Dusty are now helping their scared friend feed him. Timid, shy kids who have
turned into confident, helping kids.

mission is to help unwanted, abused, neglected, slaughter-bound equine, our
specialty are horses with issues whether it be trust, physical impairments, etc.
We would very much like to build a new barn to accommodate our present and
future residents who all remain here at the sanctuary until it is time for them
to cross the bridge, and when their time comes they never walk alone.
Established in 1988 as a place for unwanted, especially older equines to live
out their days in peace, we have grown to also include equines with issues and
we are so glad we did. Some of are most loveable horses are the one that people
gave up on many years ago.

About Us: Ridin' High, Inc. is a
therapeutic horseback riding program serving disabled children and adults.
Lessons are geared to the individual needs of each rider, and each rider is
encouraged to become as "independent" as possible, based upon their particular
abilities. Our program also stresses the development of "horsemanship"; that
is, their responsibilities and activities related to the care of their equine
partner.
With almost 800 disabled individuals between the ages of 5 and 15 in Hamblen
County alone, Ridin' High is proud to be taking on the challenging project of
creating a therapeutic center that will accommodate more riders. With two NARHA
certified instructors and one in training, over 30 wonderful volunteers, and a
very committed Board of Directors, we will offer excellent resources to our
community.
Special Needs: Obviously, our recent expansion creates many new
needs! They are bigger in size, too. So, assistance with materials for the
interior construction of offices, classroom, tack room, etc. are a priority.
And then, of course, we need a farm tractor for the usual jobs of manure
spreading, hay storage, etc. Sponsorships for tuition for riders unable to pay
are always welcome!
