About Us

K&B started publishing the first Horse Tales for the Soul books in
2000. Our goal was to produce one book with respected
teacher/trainer and speaker, Bonnie Marlewski-Probert and then
move our attention into the Dog/Cat markets with a similar
product line.

However, much to our surprise, when our author, Bonnie
Marlewski-Probert sent out the word to the media that she was
looking for stories for a new book, we were inundated with
amazing, true stories from horse lovers around the globe.

One book, led to two, which has since led us to the most recent,
volume 7 and we are asked every week, when are we going to
produce volume 8!

History of the Series

"The idea for the Horse Tales for the Soul books came in 2000
while writing one of my two syndicated monthly columns for the
horse industry. The column focused on one of my school string
horses named "Leo". He was an ex-Polo Pony/now school horse
who had a heart of gold and was so generous and laid back that,
as I mentioned in the column, had he been a guy, he would have
been the kind of guy you went out for a beer with on Friday nights
after work! After that column appeared in magazines around the
country, among my normal reader mail, I received two very special
letters from readers that touched my heart, and changed my life.

These two letters stood out because both of them included stories
about a special horse in their life and ended with a similar
statement, "after reading your column, I knew you would
understand my story." And they were right, I did." Said Bonnie
Marlewski-Probert.

Each of those stories had been written by a normal, caring horse
lover who had lived through an amazing, life changing event with
their own horse and had never shared the story with anyone
before. Both stories were overflowing with life lessons that anyone
could relate to (whether you were into horses or not). Both stories
were so heartwarming and wonderful that no one could have read
them without CRYING! After having a good cry, I wondered how
many other fabulous stories were out there that no one knew
about because no one was sharing them? That was the day the
Horse Tales for the Soul books were born!"

Why These Books are SO Unique

What makes this series of books, and now audio books, so unique
and special is the fact that Bonnie Marlewski-Probert, a seasoned
rider, trainer, teacher and speaker for the horse world read and
selected every story in every book personally. As a teacher for
more than 20 years, her focus was not just on training riders to be
successful on horseback, her real mission has always been to
focus on teaching life lessons to her students that could be
applied to enhance every area of their life and she used the Horse
to teach those lessons. Her approach to teaching mirrors the
approach taken by great football or baseball coaches who use the
sport as their opportunity to teach boys to be men and girls to be
women and individuals to be team players. These are the life skills
that once learned, provide students with all the tools they need to
live extraordinarily successful lives in business, in their personal
endeavors, oh, and by the way, on horseback!

The Horse Tales for the Soul books take this teaching philosophy
to the next level by sharing true stories from horse lovers around
the globe that demonstrate some type of profound life lesson
learned through the experience. Whether it be learning to
overcome adversity, the power of tenacity and commitment to
finding humor in life or learning to say good-bye to a cherished

Life is What Happens While you are Making Plans!

Our original "plan" with the Horse Tales for the Soul book was to
highlight the hundreds of stories that Bonnie Marlewski-Probert has
lived through in her career AND include some stories from horse
lovers around the globe. However, as the stories started pouring
in, Bonnie changed the plan... "As you will notice, I have a couple
of my own stories in Volume One and NONE in Volume Two and
just a few throughout the rest of the series. There is a reason for
that.... I bumped myself out of my own book because the stories
that were coming in were so fabulous and since I have already
published more than 1000 magazine articles, there was no reason
in the world for me to hog the limelight. I soon came to realize
that the series had taken on a life of its own and it was my job to
be a good steward for all of these authors and their stories and
that is what I have focused on ever since." Said Bonnie.
